Hi everyone!
I love these last days of summer :) it is so hot here in Italy, just like in july...

Recently I had some very good collaborations with a local graphic design studio from Majano (Udine): Studio3Labels. This is the restyling of a logo for "Les Vilanes" – in friulian (a local language used only in our region Friuli Venezia Giulia)  it means 'Village women'. It is a cultural association that offers space for different kind of cultural activities for the whole family, focusing on local traditions.

This original drawing created by a local artist was used as a logotype. Pencil drawing on paper.

The restyling of the logo. First I started with the design of the logotype. Then on the basics of the original hand-drawn figure I created a grid and tried to combine the logotype 'Les Vilanes' with the drawing. I decided to redraw the woman in a simple and geometric way, using just the upper part of the body.

I liked this contest because the subject is free and you are totally free to create your illustration in any way you want: the only rule is to keep the man with the bicycle at the centre (by downloading the rules of the contest they give you the image in .psd with trasparent background).

Vicino/lontano: the 7th edition

The 7th edition of Vicino/lontano has ended...! In Udine we had some very interesting meetings from the italian cultural scene, like Alessandro Bergonzoni and Gian Antonio Stella, plus a very special guest: Armand Gatti!
Although it is a very hard work (I think I had my toughest 2 months in my entire life), every year I'm very happy to collaborate with such a great organization. Vicino/lontano is Udine's main cultural festival with meetings, dibates, exhibitions and theatrical shows. The main event is the Premio Terzani International Letterature Award with a special theatrical award ceremony. The 7th edition was focusing on work, law and rights, the power of web, of course the 150th anniversary of Italy. The other main topic was the power of Cina, since this year's winner of Premio Terzani was the book 'Operaie' (Female workers) of Leslie T. Chang, a New york based cinese-american journalist.

È in campo di concentramento che Gatti ha la rivelazione del teatro, mentre tre rabbini lituani recitano una pièce, certo rudimentale, ma nello stesso tempo essenziale.
Tre le frasi ripetute come in una preghiera: «Io sono stato, io sono, io sarò».
“Non posso considerare – dice Gatti – il teatro come un mezzo per divertirsi, per distrarsi. Preferisco concepirlo come un perpetuo mezzo di liberazione dai pregiudizi e dalle ingiustizie, dalle forme di pensare che incatenano”. Vengono letti tre frammenti della vastissima opera di Armand Gatti: un ricordo del maquis, la Resistenza; un breve poema teatrale dal titolo Mortoperaio; e un frammento dell’Attraversamento del linguaggio, la sua ultima opera scritta, dove dichiara: “Il solo linguaggio che corrisponde all’idea che io mi faccio della poesia, è il linguaggio possibilista dei quanti. Per loro 2+2 può anche fare 8,16 o 42 oltre che 4, perché non sono settari”. Una provocazione che sollecita importanti interrogativi di ordine formale e sostanziale.

'Rock the wall' contest

Hey everyone, I'm quite busy this month, I'm back to work with the vicino/lontano cultural association and we are preparing the 7th edition of the festival!

This is a poster that I created for the 'Rock the wall' contest about saving energy. It wasn't among the selected works but I'm quite happy with it, so I decided to post it here!

Finally

Hi everyone, it has been a long time that I last updated my blog... I'm sorry for that! There were a lot of things going on and I didn't have any freetime :(

But today I'm finishing an important work and after that I can dedicate more time on illustration. I would like to partecipate at some contests, I can't wait to start to do something with my hands and not just with the computer :)

In the meanwhile I had the opportunaty to create the graphic design of the debut CD for a young band Silvia and the Fishes on Friday, with the beautiful illustrations of Anna Mattiuzzo! They should be ready for weekend, I'll post the photos as soon as they come out of the typography!

A surprise from Esslingen!!!

working together on the project / the presentation at the end of the Go Green event

Today I received a pack from Esslingen, Germany with a special surprise: the printed version of the fairy tale that our group created during the Meet Europe-Go Green project! I'm so happy with the result, it was so much fun working together!
Back in agust 2010, at the city hall of Esslingen we presented our fairy tale project about the 2 little pigs "Ecolino" and "Pesticido", and now it is finished, and printed!!!
