Inspiration from the Biennale di Venezia

Searching for inspiration I have found these photos that I took at the Biennale di Venezia last year. I loved it, although the entrance fee was kind of expensive!
I'm working on some very interesting projects nowadays, plus I would like to partecipate at a logo design contest... I have already my idea, now it is about to sit down and design it!

I'm posting my illustration for a very special 2011 calendar, for the association "Sulle ali di un angelo Onlus". They are a group of volounteers who try to help parents struggling with a loss of their child.
It is a very difficult and delicate issue and the organizer of this year's calendar wanted some illustrators to contribute with an illustration to give some hope to these people.
So with this illustration I tried to focus on how nature "works". When it is raining, usually everybody is kind of sad, but in the reality with this rain a small flower can start to bloom, and slowly the raindrops can colour also the field, and everything can be greener and happier.
Thanks to Roberta for calling me to do this illustration.
Also thanks to Anna and Vittorio, for their contribution to this project!

Triennale of Photography - Esslingen

And now I'm posting the photos that I took during our cultural visit of the city of Esslingen, Germany. One of the main events of the city is the Triennale of Photography, a very interesting international selection of photograhers. I loved it!
Again thanks to Margit, a painter and artist from Esslingen, who was very kind to show us around!
I hope I will get the catalogue of the exhibition, too :)

The United Nations declared 2010 to be the International Year of Biodiversity.
In this framework, on october Kaleidoscienza organizes a one-day-event to promote thoughts and ideas on topics concerning the role of biodiversity in our lives.

Kaleidoscienza, in collaboration with Graphicplayers, announce an open call for the international exhibition: '2010 BIO-GRAPHICS'.

The call '2010 BIO-GRAPHICS' is open to graphic designers, professionist or not, of any age and nationality; participants are invited to submit their work dealing with the call topic in the form of a poster.

Magdalena Festival 2010 | Maribor, Slovenia

It is the 2nd time that I have visited the Magdalena Festival in Maribor, Slovenia. It is a 4-day festival of creative comunication for young people, started on thursday the 14th of May. Due to work I was able to arrive in Maribor by friday afternoon (it is about a 4 hour trip by car from Udine), so I couldn't partacipate at the workshops :( But I have visited all the exhibitions, and I was at the parties!!! I have met a couple of people from Magdalena that I got to know 2 years ago, and it was such a pleasure!
Back in 2008 me and Massimo Miani were rapresenting our School of Graphic Design (www.csg-fvg.it) and we brought and set up an exhibition of students' work.
See you next year!

Here it is the new international contest from the Graphicplayers!!! Partecipate and share the information with your friends!

The contest has the aim to select posters from national and international graphic designers in order to set up an exhibition focusing on the controversial topic of freedom of the press (“Free
press”).
“Free press” is searching for experiences or thoughts on the topic of press, freedom of expression and freedom of information diffusion by designing a poster. You can be freely inspired by today’s stories or from the past concerning your own country or any other countries of the world. Press not only intended as radio, television or newspapers, but also as Internet, blogs and social networks.
We would like to encourage people worldwide, especially graphic designers, graphic design students and professionals of visual communication, to express their ideas by designing a poster.
The most valuable works will be selected and exhibited during the sixth edition of “Vicino/Lontano - Identità e differenze al tempo dei conflitti” (Udine, 6-9 May 2010) organized by Vicino/Lontano cultural association (www.vicinolontano.it) during the period of
the exhibition and longer.

Kata goes to France!

Hi everyone, hope you have survived the holidays...
I was quite sick in the last 2 weeks so I didn't have much partying :( but now I feel a bit better and I'm preparing to go to FRANCE! Yes, for the very first time I'm going to France! With my group of young creatives the Graphicplayers I was selected for a European Meeting called 'Passport to the World' witch will held in Vienne (F) from 11-17 Jan 2010.

Here is a short descripition of the partecipants from Udine! Congratulations to everyone!

Youth Agency
Municipality of Udine (Italy)

The group coming from Udine is represented by a referent of the Youth Agency (also International Relations) of the Municipality of Udine, wich is under the supervision of the Department of Social, Educational and Cultural Policies, and 4 representatives of different youth cultural Associations. The Agency, which addresses itself to young people between 14 and 35 years, is mainly in charge of:
the “Youth Information Office” which provides the young people with useful information on work, educational guidance, cultural activities, leisure time, Eurodesk databank;
the “Officine Giovani”, a space available for the youngsters who want to approach the new technologies and different artistic and creative fields;
two Youth Gathering Centres “Il Poliedro” and “Punto Incontro Giovani” present in two town’s districts where is greater the uneasiness and the risk of social exclusion;
planning of activities and events for the youngsters, also with the support of youth groups, schools and organizations operating on the territory;
stimulating the active participation of the youngsters through specific cultural and social projects, also in co-operation with the Udine Youth Forum.
The other 4 participating cultural associations are:
1. “Students Furlans”: university association with 60 members very active in different social, cultural, and charitable events; it organizes: degree prizes for thesis over the local language and culture; various cultural, social and historical projects;
2. “Ass. Rosmini”: university association operating since 20 years; latest works: project for gathering funds for Abruzzo earthquake; project “Behind every wall” in collaboration with the other Universities of the region; study week-ends and travels; inter-faculty events of 15 days;
3. “Graphic Players”: born from the experience built in a graphic school by two young graphic designers who want to set up an association to organize events and exhibitions in the fields of graphic, art, photography, audio-visuals;
4. “Altrementi”: association which aim is the valorisation of young talented people; develops cultural events (exhibitions, festivals, cinema debates, etc..) in order to increase the awareness of the young people’s problems. Contributes to the local debate over the problems of the community with the aim to bring forward proposals to the political bodies in charge.

le macchine inutili @ the Visionario | Green Spot Festival

Hi everyone, I was busy in the last weeks. Sorry for the late post! Last weekend I was at home to visit my parents and to relax and EAT. It was just a 3-day trip, because I had to come back to do a workshop about green advertising (www.greenspotfestival.com)
Now I'm posting some photos that I took at the opening of our new project "Le macchine inutili" at the Visionario in Udine. I want to thank to Maurizio Faleschini who worked so hard to built 2 of the original Bruno Munari's Useless Machines! You can see them at the entrance, they are exectly as the original ones, just like 30 times bigger! They look amazing, one of them is 6 meters long, incredible! We worked very well together, it was sometimes hard, and at the end I was tired of everything, but it was also a lot of fun. And I also want to thank to all who came to see/or will come to see our exhibition. It's free and it remains open until november 29! In the meantime we are already working in a new project + the calendar is coming, and more :)

I misteri della jungla nera

This year the students (of course me, too!) of the Scuola Giovanni da Udine (a school/laboratory of illustration with Maurizio Faleschini, Alessandra D'Este and Emanuela Biancuzzi) had to make an illustration for the book: Emilio Salgari: I misteri della jungla nera. Now we start to prepare for our annual exhibition at the Spazio Feltrinelli, Udine. I'm so excited because also this year I'll be totally involved in the exhibition set up and in the graphics! We need to hurry up because we have a really short time left. This year the theme is: Emilio Salgari (the author of the Sandokan books) and India. We'll see!
