I liked this contest because the subject is free and you are totally free to create your illustration in any way you want: the only rule is to keep the man with the bicycle at the centre (by downloading the rules of the contest they give you the image in .psd with trasparent background).

The United Nations declared 2010 to be the International Year of Biodiversity.
In this framework, on october Kaleidoscienza organizes a one-day-event to promote thoughts and ideas on topics concerning the role of biodiversity in our lives.

Kaleidoscienza, in collaboration with Graphicplayers, announce an open call for the international exhibition: '2010 BIO-GRAPHICS'.

The call '2010 BIO-GRAPHICS' is open to graphic designers, professionist or not, of any age and nationality; participants are invited to submit their work dealing with the call topic in the form of a poster.

Good 50x70 - 4th edition

4 days left!!! I'm working (I'm just thinking about the subjects, not started to 'work' on them, just projecting in my head...) on my proposal for the Good 50x70 social comunication contest... If only I could have more time :) This is one of my favourite contests about social comunication, I think it is the most important contest about social issues in Italy. They expect to see works of genuine creativity in support of the seven briefs.

From the 'Magdalena' – Festival of creative comunication

Although I didn't have time to do the workshops, it was still worth to visit this year's Magdalena Festival. Here is a selection of the photos that I took of the main exhibition from this year's creative contest's partecipants and from the 88th Art Directors Club exhibition.
I was also at the opening of the personal exhibition of Samira Kentric, an illustrator from Slovenia. Her digital work focusing on actual political life is very funny and drammatic at the same time!
Unfortunately arriving on friday afternoon I wasn't able to listen to all the lectures, but I did partecipate at a very interesting lecture about product design of a serbian designer Damjan Stankovic. He presented his projects and concepts developed in the past tho years, including his web based showcase, RELOGIK.
The only thing that I didn't like was the Award Cerimony. I was so disappointed because 2 years ago it was fantastic, very funny, unusual and... I wish better luck for next year :)

Magdalena Festival 2010 | Maribor, Slovenia

It is the 2nd time that I have visited the Magdalena Festival in Maribor, Slovenia. It is a 4-day festival of creative comunication for young people, started on thursday the 14th of May. Due to work I was able to arrive in Maribor by friday afternoon (it is about a 4 hour trip by car from Udine), so I couldn't partacipate at the workshops :( But I have visited all the exhibitions, and I was at the parties!!! I have met a couple of people from Magdalena that I got to know 2 years ago, and it was such a pleasure!
Back in 2008 me and Massimo Miani were rapresenting our School of Graphic Design (www.csg-fvg.it) and we brought and set up an exhibition of students' work.
See you next year!

*FREE PRESS* interantional poster design contest

Here it is the new international contest from the Graphicplayers!!! Partecipate and share the information with your friends!

The contest has the aim to select posters from national and international graphic designers in order to set up an exhibition focusing on the controversial topic of freedom of the press (“Free
press”).
“Free press” is searching for experiences or thoughts on the topic of press, freedom of expression and freedom of information diffusion by designing a poster. You can be freely inspired by today’s stories or from the past concerning your own country or any other countries of the world. Press not only intended as radio, television or newspapers, but also as Internet, blogs and social networks.
We would like to encourage people worldwide, especially graphic designers, graphic design students and professionals of visual communication, to express their ideas by designing a poster.
The most valuable works will be selected and exhibited during the sixth edition of “Vicino/Lontano - Identità e differenze al tempo dei conflitti” (Udine, 6-9 May 2010) organized by Vicino/Lontano cultural association (www.vicinolontano.it) during the period of
the exhibition and longer.

The Graphicplayers' contest Ex-Factory has ended on the 6th of January 2010, and we have received so many beautiful photos! Finally we have managed to set the date and the location of the exhibition! Official comunication of the winners will be soon online on our website www.graphicplayers.it
I'm so happy with the result, it really just showed us that there is a need of initiatives like this among yuongsters!
In the meantime I'm working on the graphics and on the advertising materials!

I have submitted this poster for the international Francisco Mantecon poster design competition in Spain! I was really surprised by the result of this illustration, also the printed version (cm 50x70) is really nice, the colors are great, and I really had so much fun creating it!

Saluti (dal mio) passato - my illustration gets a mention from the jury!

I'm back with good news. This month I submitted my work for the illustration contest of a calendar for 2010 "Immagining the time", I wasn't selected among the winners, but I got a mention from the jury! That just made me so happy...

It is about greeting and saying goodbye at the same time. From the present I send a greeting to my home-land (Hungary), and I also say goodbye to my past and to my country's past. The raven with the envelope was the symbol of Hungary's post office (Magyar Posta) during the socialism. It was changed by the time the Berlin wall came down. I used scanned real elements from that era which I elaborated in Photoshop, and made the illustration in Adobe Illustrator. It contains also one of my collages from my early schooldays (floral element on the envelope) - which is a real hungarian folk floral-pattern. With the colours I tried to bring some "Piermario Ciani"-style to my stuff, because all the contest was honoring his carrier. It was real fun, and now maybe I would have done a little more different, (I'm not happy with the illustration a 100%) but I'm happy with the results in general, and the fact that I was able to express so many things with just one illustration.
